More on Michael Leo Boyle, the Bootlegger, and his grandchildren

 I recently received a photo from one of my cousins on Facebook that has my grandfather, Michael Leo Boyle, the bootlegger in it... Which also has me and my siblings in it. I'm the one with the long brown hair and dark dress with the white round color. My brother Bill has a plaid shirt on. My brother Mike has the two toned shirt on, with his eyes closed and my sister, Sarah, has the gray coat with the dark collar with her head turned towards the center of the photo. This photo was taken in the house we lived in at 402 Park Avenue, Union Beach, NJ USA. I know that from the wall paper in the background. Mom's hobby was wall papering and this is one that she had hung in that house. The leaves are two toned green with an off white background.  That, I remember from that area and from that house in Union Beach. Not sure who the other 4 are. Most likely children from my mothers siblings, Sarah, Mary or her twin brother, Michael Leo, Jr.   My older brother, Bill, is deceased, he would have been 87 this year, 2026, with me being 86, Mike 82, and Sarah 79, all this year. I'm still in touch with Mike.... Plus Bill's widow, Norma, on Facebook...

Stringing 2 Quilt Blocks Stringing quilt blocks isn't as hard as one may think it is to do.  (You can click on the photos to enlarge them and to reduce them back to their original size or hit return if that doesn't work for you to down-size them) First of all, is the preparation, cutting the pieces of fabric up... I'm working with Half Square Triangles (HST) for making each of these two 12.5 inch quilt blocks. I'm using two different methods to make the pink quilt block up. I'll be working with both 4" and 8" fabric squares to do same. For the one with the PINK print:  I'll be using four 4" squares of pink fabric and four 4" squares of white fabric. XL Zipper Covered Pillows

MY OVERSIZED PILLOWS Came across a sale on 30" fluffy white pillow forms/inserts recently which could have several uses such as bed pillows or as pet pillows and the like which needed to be covered.  Added some tie strings to one of them to make the pillow a wee bit firmer which reduced the pillow to 26" in size.     Started this 26" zippered pillow cover with a 12.5" red white and blue star quilt block for its center block.  Then added a dozen assorted 6.5" football shaped red "orange peel blocks" to it, which made the pillow cover just about 24.5 inches. Which I increased by two inches simply by adding a light blue one inch border to increase it for the final 26" completed size. I backed the pillow with a large 3 tone blue diamond shaped print. I added a 20" zipper to the bottom of the pillow cover so I could remove it and for washing purposes seeing that the pillow itself seemed probably too big to thr...

2014 Kitchen Swap: Aprons & Bibs

Aprons & Bibs   My Kitchen Swap partner asked me for aprons and bibs. These are the ones I made up for her, 4 aprons and 2 bibs.   2 Adult Aprons   2 Childrens Aprons   2 Childrens Bibs   I made the Mother/Daughter aprons match by using some of the fabric from the daughters apron on the pockets as trim on the pockets of the mothers apron. Plus I used brown rick rack on the daughters apron to match her mothers apron. Both have pink and brown in their fabric designs. I chose the fabrics for these two.   However, the Man's and Childs aprons don't match. The mother picked out the fabric from some I had in my fabric stash for the boys apron. I also told her that I had a pre-printed John Deere apron that she okayed too.   Was only supposed to make up one bib.
